Discernment Counseling
For Couples On The Fence
Feeling stuck in the “do we stay together or not?” place can be exhausting.
Discernment counseling is a short-term, structured process designed specifically for couples who aren’t sure whether they want to continue their relationship.
This isn’t couples therapy. We’re not jumping straight into understanding patterns or teaching communication skills.
The goal is clarity.
Together, we work toward one of three clear paths:
Stay the same for now
Commit to couples therapy with real intention
Separate with more clarity and care
Discernment counseling creates space for both of you to slow things down, get honest about what’s been happening, and look at your own role in the relationship dynamic — without pressure to make a snap decision.
Sessions usually include time with both of you together and time with each of you individually. This gives space for honesty, reflection, and less reactivity than the conversations you’ve probably been having at home.
If things feel heavy, confusing, or stuck in circles, discernment counseling can help you get out of the fog and into a clearer place, whatever direction you ultimately choose.
